The primary aim of PBS is to meet a young persons needs, understand the function of their behaviour and remove obstacles to learning.
This Whole School Introduction to PBS workshop ensures that all teaching staff have a clear framework for understanding the essential principles of PBS and how this approach fits with other popular educational approaches.

Teachers, HLTA’s and teaching assistants.
Workshop Contents
• The principles and values that underpin PBS.
• The reasons behaviours of concern occur.
• An overview of school wide PBS and key interventions.
• A framework for assessing behaviour and planning individualised interventions.
Learning Outcomes
Through completion of the workshop, delegates will be able:
• Discuss the values base underlying PBS and define why it is important.
• Recognise why behaviours of concern occur and identify the functions of behaviour.
• Describe the ABC/STAR model and demonstrate skills in recording behaviour
objectively.
• Analyse & discuss the factors that have an impact on behaviour and the ability to learn.
• Illustrate the importance of knowing the person, their abilities & specific support needs.
• Describe the assault cycle, proactive and reactive interventions, and PBS plans.
